FINCA and Citigroup

 

Citigroup Inc. (often known simply as Citi) has provided philanthropic support to FINCA for more than 20 years. Through the Citi Foundation, the company has facilitated the creation of new Village Banking groups in Guatemala, Jordan, Zambia and half-dozen other countries. Citi also has been an active sponsor of FINCA’s research initiative, helping FINCA develop products that best serve clients. And – following Haiti’s deadly earthquake of January 12, 2010 – Citi committed $400,000 to allow FINCA to recapitalize its program. In 2011, among other initiatives, Citi is funding FINCA's efforts to improve its social performance reporting, its Shariah-compliant lending in Jordan, and its branchless banking initiative in the DR Congo.
