Citibank Staff Provides Training for FINCA Jordan Clients

Staff members of FINCA Jordan were recently joined by a group of Citibank employees at the Deir Alla branch to conduct training for clients designed to enhance their business management skills, and advise them in areas of personal financial management, marketing and product development.

The FINCA Jordan clients own small and medium businesses primarily focused on traditional handicrafts, construction and agricultural services like livestock production. Several have been winners of Citi’s Micro-Enterprise Awards.

Microfinance CEO Working Group Update

The founding members of the Microfinance CEO Working Group, which includes the CEOs of pioneering microfinance organizations ACCION, FINCA, Freedom from Hunger, Grameen Foundation USA, Opportunity International, Pro Mujer, VisionFund International, and Women’s World Banking, have just released the “Road Map for the Microfinance Industry: Focusing on Responsible and Client-Centered Microfinance.”

This document outlines the Working Group members’ vision for the positive evolution of the microfinance field, and underscores their commitment to raising industry standards, starting with their own.

FINCA Jordan Client Wins Citigroup Award to Small Entrepreneurs

For the third consecutive year, a FINCA Jordan client has been awarded the Citi Micro-Entrpreneur Award for best project in the Poverty Pockets category. Ghazi Al-Khatib of Deir Alla owns and operates a small masonry business where he specializes in recreating models of the historic site at Petra, as well as Roman columns, from artificial stones.

Ghazi Al Khatib is thankful for the loans made available to him and his neighbors from FINCA Jordan. “Because of my FINCA loans, I am giving my wife and three sons a much better life, and I’m able to help my neighbors do the same for their families. I am also very proud and happy that I am able to help my brother pay for his son’s university fees. Everyone in my family is grateful to FINCA.”
