FINCA HAITI PROVIDING CLIENTS WITH RESOURCES TO BEGIN THEIR RECOVERY

Help Haiti Earthquake survivorsWe have learned from our Haiti program director that, notwithstanding the extraordinary challenges they face in their own daily lives, FINCA Haiti’s devoted employees are working hard to provide much-needed financial services to desperate Haitian women trying to rebuild their lives. He reports that, in the immediate aftermath of the devastating quake…

“FINCA clients had no access to money from outside, but we stood with them and made disbursements to assist our clients in these troubled times."

As Haiti's microentrepreneurs begin to restart their businesses —selling fruit and bread from baskets on their heads, peddling rice or used clothing or fried chicken at impromptu markets in homeless encampments — FINCA is there to make sure they have the resources necessary to begin the long road to recovery. Please give now to the FINCA Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund so our clients can purchase the supplies and equipment they need to get back in business.

Some may question why we make loans available during such a crisis, rather than simply providing aid in the form of cash. In our 25 years of experience, we've learned that the hardworking poor know the difference between a hand out — which disappears once the money is spent and aid groups depart — and the hand up that is provided by FINCA, which has supported its operation in Haiti through thick and thin, making sure that long-term resources continue to be available when they're needed, not when an aid organization or government thinks they're needed.

FINCA has been providing hope and opportunity for over 20 years to the struggling poor of Haiti. In their time of greatest need, we are there for our clients — and we want to be there for thousands of microentrepreneurs who will seek our life-changing loans in the coming weeks and months.

Today, please give as generously as you can to the FINCA Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund, so we can make sure our transformative loans continue to be available to our nearly 12,000 Village Banking clients in Haiti — and to the thousands of future microentrepreneurs who, more than ever, will seek the means to create a better future for their families.

Sincerely,
